Molecular Probes

Biosciences laboratory and office building.
38,000-square-foot, four-story research and development laboratory
building sited near a similar existing building. The first three
stories house laboratories. Other spaces include offices, a lunch
room, conference rooms, storage rooms, break areas, a library, a
telecommunications room, and a large meeting room to seat 150 people
in an auditorium environment for audio/visual presentations.
The laboratory portion of the facility is organized on the basis
of a series of 10-foot-wide modular lab aisles with exterior windows.
These perimeter labs are accessed by an internal corridor system
that encircles a central core of lab support, storage and specialized
equipment that is shared by the lab personnel in the perimeter lab
modules. Supplies and chemicals are transported to all levels of
the building by dumbwaiter from the building's service entrance.
